A different kind of indulgence

I've been having a lot of nice meals lately, but sometimes, this is all I want:

scallion pancakes, $2.95

chicken wings, $2.95

Both from Empire Corner, the takeout place near my apartment. The long-gone Chinese restaurant in Cambridge where my dad worked as a delivery man was called Empire. Fitting, no?

  1. Omigosh! Scallion pancakes. You should try Vanessa's Dumpling House Roast Duck Sesame Pancake Sandwich. Also Amy Li taught Alex and I (mostly Alex, he's the dough man) how to make scallion flat bread. Putting that on our to do list for later this summer.

P.S. Your blog piques two of my greatest curiosities: strangers and food. Love it!

  2. I saw a mention of that place on your blog, and I'll definitely check it out. I'm always looking for good frozen dumplings. My mom used to make sesame pancakes from duck fat after she made poached duck, so that sounds like the perfect sandwich for me.

Scallion flat bread is one of my favorite things to make. I love scallion pancakes but my mom didn't like to deep-fry things so we'd make flat bread instead. Marginally healthier?
